The European Association of Young Economists (EAYE) organizes the Spring Meeting of Young Economists (SMYE) every year since 1996.

The SMYE is organized “by young economists for young economists” and nowadays receives on average 700 submissions per year. Young economists from all fields and all over the world are invited to submit their works. This conference aims to bring together young economists, such as PhD students, researchers and assistant professors, and encourage the discussion of their work as well as help to create a network to connect young professionals in Economics.

SMYE typically receives 200 participants. Besides the scientific sessions, four renowned keynote speakers are invited to present their research and the participants have the opportunity to share experiences in the social events.
The best paper at the conference will be presented with the Best Paper Award. 

This is the first time that a Portuguese university will host this meeting, and we are very excited to receive young economists from all over the world.
